Position: Plater Technician
Pay Rate: Based on experience ($0.75 shift differential 36 hours one week, 48 hours the next and every other weekend off.
The Plating Associate Technician is on a cross-training (and/or path of expertise) track, as dictated by business needs, and gains proficiency in various essential functions. Primary responsibilities include operation of all plating processes, including chrome, cadmium, anodize, alodine, and copper. Using various treatments, such as electroplating and chemical dips, he/she must ensure that FAA guidelines are followed to apply and finish the metals of aviation parts to precise specifications. A full understanding of metals and their respective treatments is required. Incumbent must understand the purpose and scope of each process area, including machining, plating, Non-destructive testing, and grinding. He/she must be familiar with and follow FAA requirements related to inspection and repair. In addition he/she must be able to read and interpret OEM repair manual instructions. An aptitude for detailed metal work and methodical trouble-shooting is essential. The Associate is expected to practice exemplary conduct and work ethics at all times-this includes good attendance. The ability of the Shop employees to function as a compatible team is imperative to our overall success, and the Associate must participate with initiative, positive approaches to problem solving/prevention, and commitment to quality.
High School Diploma or GED. Two to four years of Plating experience, preferably in an aviation environment. Ability to interpret and follow repair instructions from OEM manuals. Understanding of FAA regulations. An aptitude for detailed mechanical work and methodical trouble-shooting is essential. Writing skills and accuracy are required for documentation. Ability to safely and properly operate plating equipment and devices.
Familiarity with computers is desirable to enter work order information. Tolerance for working with chemicals, heat, and electrical current.
