excellent opportunity for a full-time Welder/Fabricator responsible for fabrication, welding, setup/tear-down of custom designed systems for a Fabrication and Machine Shop. excellent opportunity for an entry level applicant to cross-train and learn many area's of Fabrication and Machining. This is a temp to permanent opportunity. wear many hats as everything is everyone's job and must be a team player.
- Fabrication and Welding duties:
- Read and interpret work orders, drawings to determine specs such as layout, assembly, materials, dimensions, tolerances, welding requirements and fit up.
- Fit and weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
- Prepare and set up tools and equipment for welding and fabrication jobs.
- Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat bond, bolt or grind parts as necessary to satisfy technical requirements and create a welded final product.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specs using measuring devices.
- Control process of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat, distortion, expansion or shrink of spare parts.
- Operate equipment such as band saw, cut off saw, belt sander, drill press, disc grinder, ss, lathe, forklift and various other shop equipment, press brake.
- Perform, identify all necessary maintenance and repair on all equip used in welding.
- Load and unload materials with forklifts, etc.
- Repeatedly lift and place work pieces into bins, boxes, etc.
- Stage parts for next work center.
- ensure proper tooling necessary to complete upcoming projects
- Provide assistance to project managers, shop supervisor, and the quality inspection team
- Monitor supply levels, stock and manage raw material inventory
- Clean and maintain equipment as directed
- Perform preventative maintenance for shop equipment
Required Qualifications:
- technical school; or minimum of 6 months to one year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of welding, machine settings and other welding equipment
- Strong communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- be self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, quality manuals and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read a tape measure within 1/16”.
- Ability to use calipers and micrometers
- Experience using levels and squares.
- Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents.
- Ability to use weld fit gauges to ensure proper weld size and interpret tolerances
- Must be able to identify and measure material.
- Possess a strong knowledge of welding including MIG and some TIG
- Must demonstrate a high level of mechanical skills.
- Must exhibit strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures as needed.
- Experience with basic hand tools and machine tools including the operation of small equipment and tools such as saws, sanders, drill presses, grinders and other various shop equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to be flexible and adaptable.
