SERVICE CLERK needed for Middlefield Company on 1st shift working from 7:30pm to 4pm pay starts out at $ 12.50/hr with a raise upon hire. Must have prior forklift and/or material handling experience. Ability to keep machines supplied with materials, making boxes, relieving operators for breaks and lunch, drive forklift
Physical ability to lift 55 pounds repeatedly in a scheduled shift;
Capability to obtain forklift certification;
Ability to perform math calculations to include percentages and decimals;
Possess basic reading comprehension skills.
The Service Clerk (Material Handler) is responsible for supplying Production with material and Press Operator supplies, removing skids in the Production area with a tow motor and relieving Press Operators for their breaks.
1.) Identify raw materials and colorants by B.O.M. number and handling requirements.
2.) Understand proper mixing procedures (i.e., colorant, percent of regrind, etc.) as detailed
on the B.O.M. Sheets/Set-up Sheets.
3.) Know how to properly use the scale.
4.) Know how to correctly record material move transactions.
5.) Keep Material Hoppers on machines at proper level and never let a machine run out of material.
6.) Make sure maximum regrind is always used but not exceeded.
7.) Check the Daily Production Schedule and calculate the material required for each job.
Do not mix or load more than is required to complete the job.
8.) Check the Daily Production Schedule for Mold changes and locate all material, colorant
and components needed before the machine is shut down. (Have dry material if required.)
9.) Keep all Presses supplied with proper cartons and miscellaneous supplies. (i.e., Mold lubricant spray, knife blades, gloves, hot stamp tape, etc.).
10.) Ensure that all cartons are labeled with proper product number date, shift, etc. This
must be written as legibly as possible.
11.) Remove all finished goods from the Press area to the designated area for shipment or
a secondary operation.
12.) Make sure that all Production boxes, scrap boxes, bins and material containers are
dated, labeled and covered.
13.) During Mold changeovers, there are several areas of responsibility for the Service Clerk
- Ensuring that the Hopper, Grinder and Vacuum lines are clean and free of previous resin.
- Filling the Hopper with raw material.
- If required, ensure all dryer hoses are properly attached to the Hopper and Dryer and
that there are no leaks; make sure the filters are clean; and make notations in the Log
on the Dryer Check-Off Sheet.
- Clean all loose material, runners, and trash from the Press and surrounding area.
Remove any fixtures and equipment not needed.
- Put away unused material; date and label regrind.
