Job Title: Steel Mill General Laborer
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- Temporary-to-hire position with a Monday to Friday schedule.
- Work hours: 1st 6am-2:30pm
- Compensation is $16per hour temp to hire
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Steel Mill General Laborer. This role involves working in a heavy industrial environment, where you will be responsible for various tasks such as lifting heavy loads, cutting steel plates, threading, building anchor bolts, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining a clean workspace. If you're physically capable, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced steel mill operation, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Safely lift and handle heavy loads weighing up to 75lbs, using proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
- Perform cutting and threading of steel plates according to specifications and project requirements.
- Construct anchor bolts by following established procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate loading and unloading activities, ensuring materials are handled efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
- Assist in general maintenance tasks as needed, supporting the overall functioning of the steel mill.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to provide updates on progress and challenges.
Qualifications:
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75lbs in a heavy industrial setting.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision when performing cutting, threading, and construction tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and adhere to established procedures.
- Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a productive work environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing tasks.
- Prior experience in a steel mill, construction, or industrial setting is a plus, but not required.
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as needed.
