Shop Helper

Weirton Mancan is seeking a mechanically inclined and motivated Shop Helper to join our team. This position involves assisting with the teardown of rigging equipment, preparing items for painting, and performing general shop duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. This position offers a Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM schedule (Occasional overtime may be required..)
Minimum Starting Pay: $19.87/hour
***You may also be eligible for a $1.00/hour increase after 6 months of employment, plus annual performance increases at 1 year and each year thereafter.***
Key Responsibilities:
Disassemble rigging equipment safely and efficiently, following company protocols.
Clean, sand, and prepare equipment surfaces to ensure optimal paint adherence. This includes removing old paint and rust as necessary.
Apply paint and finishes to rigging equipment, ensuring a high-quality finish and adherence to safety standards.
Assist with various tasks around the shop, including maintaining cleanliness and organization, operating tools, forklift, and machinery, and supporting team members as needed.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements:
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand and power tools.
Familiarity with painting techniques and materials is a plus.
Forklift experience is preferred.
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical labor.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Basic knowledge of safety procedures in a shop environment.
Must be able to pass a DOT Physical and Drug Screen.
Will be fit tested once a year for a respirator.
