The Aftercast position is part of the finishing process in the aluminum casting industry. It is responsible for efficiently and safely removing castings from trees using a powered cutoff saw. This role involves careful manipulation of both the casting and the tree to ensure the removal process is conducted without causing damage to the casting. The operator must follow established guidelines and quality standards to achieve accurate and precise cuts while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a powered cutoff saw to cut castings from trees, following prescribed procedures and safety protocols.
- Examine each casting and assess the optimal cutting approach to minimize the risk of damage.
- Safely handle and maneuver both the casting and the tree to facilitate clean and accurate cuts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient production process.
- Inspect cut castings for any defects or imperfections, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe and productive environment.
- Adhere to quality control standards and specifications to ensure the integrity of the finished castings.
- Participate in training programs and stay up-to-date with industry best practices and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or a related field is a plus.
- Familiarity with powered cutoff saws and basic machinery operation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
- Physical dexterity and the ability to handle heavy or awkward objects.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of quality control principles.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
