Assistant Property Manager – Job Description
The Assistant Property Manager supports the daily operations of a residential property community, including leasing, resident relations, rent collection, compliance, and maintenance coordination. This role assists the Property Manager and may act on their behalf when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with leasing apartments, processing applications, and conducting background checks
• Support resident move-ins, renewals, recertifications, and compliance requirements
• Maintain waiting lists, resident records, rent rolls, and delinquency reports
• Collect rent payments, prepare deposits, and assist with financial reporting
• Coordinate maintenance requests and monitor property conditions
• Respond to resident concerns and help resolve complaints
• Assist with inspections, inventories, and property reporting
• Work with residents, contractors, housing agencies, and the public professionally
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience in property management, real estate, or customer service preferred
• Knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs is a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
• Office setting with some property inspections
• Monday–Friday schedule with minimal travel
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and use standard office equipment
