📍 Direct Hire Opportunity | Based in Ashtabula, OH
💲 $100,000 – $160,000 annually
Mancan is partnering with a facility in Ashtabula that is currently seeking an experienced Track Estimator to join their team! This is a direct hire opportunity for a motivated professional with railroad and construction estimating experience.
Candidates must be willing to travel to various job sites throughout the United States and commute to Ashtabula a minimum of twice per month.
🔹 General Description
Seeking an experienced Construction Estimator. The ideal candidate will be able to perform detailed takeoffs, handle preconstruction paperwork, prepare cost estimations, coordinate with suppliers and customers, and attend bid meetings. This role requires an individual who is self-motivated, possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, and is confident in their ability to develop and manage assigned portions of estimates.
🔹 Job Responsibilities Include:
• Navigate web portals, document sites, and network drives
• Review customer drawings and specifications
• Complete take-offs
• Communicate with suppliers and customers
• Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Prepare and analyze bid costs using HCSS Heavy Bid
• Review bid costs with management
• Draft and submit reports
• Facilitate project handoff to Project Managers
• Record bidding data
• Process submittals and RFIs
• Prepare detailed cost analysis of direct and indirect project costs
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously
• Maintain organized documentation and workflow
• Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
🔹 Skill Requirements:
• Excellent attention to detail and time management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Professional communication skills with vendors, customers, and coworkers
• Ability to perform under bid deadline pressure
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications
• Experience performing drawing and quantity take-offs using Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
🔹 Experience Requirements:
• 5 years of railroad experience preferred
• 5 years of bidding experience OR 2 years of track construction bidding experience preferred
🔹 Technical Qualifications:
Candidates should possess at least three of the following skills (all preferred):
• Microsoft Excel formula creation and manipulation
• Microsoft Word formatting and editing
• Organized network folder navigation
• PDF editing in Adobe Acrobat
• Navigating supplier websites and file-sharing systems
• HCSS Heavy Bid software experience (training available)
🔹 Education Requirements
• 4-year Construction or Technical degree preferred
🔹 Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Ability to walk uneven surfaces and long distances
• Ability to sit for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be willing to travel
