Furnace Operator

Mancan is assisting a local Massillon company who is looking for 1st shift Furnace Operator. The stack melter operator position operates the stack furnace which melts aluminum and then delivers the molten metal to individual die presses. This is completed under supervision and direction of Production Manager and Die Cast Supervisor
This position will start at $17/hr. Hours will be 7am-3pm.
Duties and responsibilities

1. Must push charge carts to barrel dumper, scale, and to the furnace.
2. Read numbers on scale, prompts on furnace display, and document in melt log.
3. Tap the furnace by removing the torch from kettle, opening the seal on pour hole watching to not overflow kettle, and closing seal.
4. General maintenance, replacing seals, cleaning inside of furnace, and troubleshooting minor issues.
5. Use forklift to transport molten aluminum to individual holding pots.
6. Be familiar with all equipment and its proper care.
7. Preform a pre-inspection before operating forklift.
8. Light and shut down gas/air torch.
9. Wear personal protective equipment.
10. Communicate with die cast operators.
11. Watch all holding pots to ensure no machines are empty.
12. Must be able to complete all required paperwork.
