Mancan Staffing is now hiring a **Shop Assistant/Apprentice Mechanic** for a well-established industrial repair company in **Washington, PA!** This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to learn the trade, gain hands-on experience, and grow into a long-term career in industrial mechanics.
💰 Pay:** $18.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on experience)
🕒 Schedule:** 4 ten-hour days (with potential for overtime)
📅 Status:** Full-time, Temp-to-Perm Opportunity
Position Overview
The **Shop Assistant/Apprentice Mechanic** is the learner, the builder, and the future of the trade. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and leadership, you’ll develop hands-on skills, mechanical knowledge, and strong work habits through structured mentorship and on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities
**🧰 Training & Skill Development**
* Learn to disassemble, clean, and inspect electric motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
* Assist mechanics with diagnostics, bearing replacement, reassembly, and testing.
🏭 Shop Support
* Keep tools, workstations, and parts areas clean and organized.
* Help prep motors for testing/shipment, label jobs, and manage parts.
* Support loading/unloading deliveries and moving equipment.
* Assist in documenting part and job information.
⚙️ Safety & Quality
* Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.
* Learn to properly use micrometers, calipers, and measuring tools.
* Participate in safety meetings and maintain a clean, compliant work area.
🤝 Teamwork & Growth
* Work collaboratively with shop leaders and teammates.
* Take direction and feedback positively.
* Be dependable, punctual, and motivated to learn and grow.
Qualifications
* High school diploma, GED, or technical program enrollment (preferred fields: mechatronics, industrial maintenance, electrical technology).
* Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work.
* Basic knowledge of tools and mechanical systems.
* Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
* Physically able to lift/move heavy parts with assistance.
* Ability to obtain a PA medical card (for occasional equipment pickup/delivery) is a plus.
