Diesel Mechanic

Mancan is working with a company in Perrysville seeking a diesel mechanic. This is a temp to hire position for the right candidate based upon attitude, attendance, and performance. Pay is based upon experience. Standard hours are Monday-Friday from 8-5, but may include other shifts based on needs. This position may include occasional travel for service calls.
As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting and performing immediate and preventative maintenance repairs on all tractors, company vehicles, and various shop equipment. Working collaboratively with other mechanics, you will diagnose needed repairs and report to the Maintenance Manager to authorize necessary actions. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe work area and will be trained in CPR, first aid, and the use of a defibrillator, serving as a first aid provider when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and service the fleet in compliance with company, federal, and industry standards, ensuring adherence to F.M.C.S.A. and D.O.T. requirements for tractors.
- Perform immediate and preventative maintenance repairs on tractors, company vehicles, and shop equipment.
- Collaborate with other mechanics to diagnose necessary repairs and report findings to the Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Complete training in CPR, first aid, and defibrillator usage, serving as a first aid provider as required.
- Operate various equipment including measuring instruments, precision machines, hand tools, and material handling equipment.
Qualifications:
- Certification or associate degree from a college or technical school in diesel mechanics, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Good knowledge of F.M.C.S.A. and D.O.T. requirements for tractors.
- Ability to operate measuring instruments (micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers), precision machines (drill and punch press, bench lathes), hand tools (drills, wrenches, grinders), and material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, and overhead hoists).
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as necessary.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 145 pounds.
- Lift heavy parts and tools, handle greasy and dirty parts, and work in awkward positions to repair vehicles and equipment.
- Occasional outdoor work may be required, but the primary work environment is the shop.
- May be exposed to chemical or electrical hazards; safety protocols must be followed.
