Mancan Staffing is helping out an Akron company who is seeking an experience Plant Operator for a Direct Hire position in their wastewater treatment plant.
The position would end up on 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) or 3rd shift (11:30 pm to 7:30 am).
It is a union position, meaning the shift selection and wages are set by the contract. The starting rate of pay for 2023 is $26.54 per hour. In addition, 2nd & 3rd shift receive a shift differential of $0.35 per hour. They also have an optional assessment program where you can earn additional weekly stipends of $50, $60, or $70 per week.
The Plant Operator performs work throughout the plant for regular operations, regular and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, analysis and repair of equipment and related components for a sludge pumping and treatment facility and biogas driven electrical generation systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate, monitor and maintain facility operations
• Operate various tools including hand tools, welders, pneumatic and electric tools
• Operate computers and CMMS to obtain work orders, place work orders, log work performed, and search for inventory parts
• Perform electrical maintenance
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Follow all safety guidelines and complete incident reports immediately when required
• Perform general housekeeping in the maintenance shop and throughout the facility
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required
• Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Electrical experience required
• Certificate of completion from a 2-year mechanical training program, or military experience preferred
• 2 years experience in industrial setting preferred
Requirements

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to learn new programs/software as needed
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to work 2nd/3rd shift and holidays (if it falls on your regularly scheduled work day)
• Candidates must submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, twist, bend, stoop, climb ladders, push, pull, shovel, pound, lift, talk, and hear
• Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment
