**Job Description: Saw Operator - Direct Hire**
**Job Purpose:**
The Metal Processing Technician is responsible for efficiently processing metal materials to precise specifications in preparation for manufacturing processes.
**Duties:**
- Read, interpret, and analyze mechanical drawings to understand dimensional requirements and tolerances.
- Set up and operate saw machines to cut fabricated metal products according to production work orders and specifications.
- Determine the appropriate metal type and quantity to be cut per bill of material.
- Sequence cutting operations to minimize setup and changeover time.
- Perform regular machine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality checks to verify accuracy and identify material defects or machine malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment in the saw area.
**Knowledge of:**
- Mechanical drawing interpretation, including dimensions, tolerances, symbols, and data references.
- Operation and maintenance of saw machines and controls.
- Efficient production processes, quality control standards, and safety practices.
**Skills/Qualifications:**
- Proficiency in adjusting machine controls to precise positions.
- Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment for the job.
- Strong mathematical skills, including metric and English conversions and fractions to decimals.
- Effective prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
**Acceptable Education/Training/Experience:**
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required.
- Candidates may need to provide their own personal tools, with some tools provided by the company.
**Hours; Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm. Occassional Saturday 5a - 11a
**Pay: BOE - $18 - $23/PH
