Job Summary
A growing manufacturing company in Eastlake is seeking General Laborers to join our third-shift production team. You’ll play a key role in operating filament winding machines to wrap fiberglass strands around polypropylene tanks. This is a hands-on position that involves working with resin and acetone in a temperature-controlled facility.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Calibration
* Prepare filament winding machines based on job specifications.
* Load mandrels and tooling with precision.
* Calibrate winding paths and adjust tension settings for accurate fiber placement.
Winding Process Operation
* Operate filament winding equipment and monitor process variables (speed, tension, resin flow).
* Apply composite materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber, or Kevlar as per engineering specs.
* Inspect winding process in real-time for defects or misalignment.
Quality Control & Inspection
* Conduct in-process and final inspections of tanks for wrinkles, voids, or fiber misalignment.
* Use tools like calipers, micrometers, and laser alignment systems.
* Document inspection results and report nonconformities.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
* Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs.
* Collaborate with maintenance for technical issues.
* Keep workspace and tools clean and organized.
Production Documentation
* Record batch numbers, material usage, machine run times, and environmental data.
* Enter data into tracking systems and complete shift handover reports.
* Follow documentation protocols per ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards.
Safety & Compliance
* Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
* Report hazards or unsafe behavior immediately.
* Participate in ongoing safety training and improvement programs.
Qualifications
Education
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Technical or vocational training in composites or mechanical systems preferred.
Experience
* 1–3 years in a composite or manufacturing environment preferred.
* Experience with filament winding, CNC machinery, or machine operation a plus.
Technical Skills
* Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and follow written instructions.
* Basic knowledge of winding software, resin systems, and mechanical tools.
Soft Skills
* Strong attention to detail and quality.
* Effective communication and teamwork.
* Ability to work independently and meet production goals.
Physical Requirements
* Able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
* Comfortable working with chemicals (resin, acetone) in a manufacturing environment.
* Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
