Eastlake company seeking general laborers immediately. Candidates will be responsible for winding spooled fiberglass strands on to polypropylene tanks. Employees will be exposed to Resin and Acetone.
This position is on second shift 4pm-12am and pays $17-$21. Must be available Monday through Friday
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Calibration
Prepare and configure filament winding machines for each production run based on specific job requirements and winding patterns.
Load and align mandrels, pressure vessel liners, and other tooling accurately to ensure proper alignment.
Calibrate winding paths and adjust tension settings to maintain precise fiber placement.
Winding Process Operation
Operate fully or semi-automated filament winding equipment, closely monitoring winding speeds, fiber tension, and resin application.
Apply composite materials—such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, or Kevlar—in specific orientations and layer sequences according to engineering specifications.
Visually inspect the winding process in real time to identify irregularities or defects in fiber layup.
Quality Control & Inspection
Conduct in-process and post-winding inspections of vessels for defects such as wrinkles, voids, or misaligned fibers.
Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and laser alignment systems to verify dimensions and layer thickness.
Document all inspection results and escalate nonconformities to quality assurance personnel.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on winding machinery, including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacements.
Identify mechanical or software issues and collaborate with the maintenance department for repairs or upgrades.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the daily cleaning of winding tooling and production zones.
Production Documentation & Reporting
Record all manufacturing data including material batch numbers, fiber usage, run times, and environmental conditions.
Input data into production tracking software and complete shift handover logs to maintain workflow continuity.
Ensure traceability and compliance with documentation required for AS9100 or ISO9001 quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety protocols, wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
Report potential hazards or unsafe practices to supervisors immediately.
Participate in safety training programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in composites or mechanical systems preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a composite manufacturing environment, preferably in a role involving filament winding or CNC machine operation.
Technical Competencies:
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
Familiarity with winding software, machine programming, and resin impregnation systems is a plus.
Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments and basic hand tools.
Soft Skills:
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and consistency.
Problem-solving abilities to identify issues and implement corrective actions efficiently.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to work within a team-oriented environment.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and meet production deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals such as resins and solvents.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for machine operation and material handling.
