Maintenance Mechanic – Temp-to-Hire
Pay: $30.00/hr.
Schedule: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

What You’ll Do
• Maintain and repair production equipment including spiral freezers, ammonia refrigeration systems, and sewage treatment equipment.
• Service facility equipment, building systems, and outdoor areas.
• Assemble and disassemble production machinery as needed.
• Perform maintenance shop duties and keep tools and equipment in top shape.
• Design and fabricate specialty items for production equipment (welding required).
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and make on-the-spot repairs to minimize downtime.
• Keep accurate logs for plant temperature, compressors, refrigeration systems, sewage pre-treatment, and repairs.
• Perform scheduled weekend or holiday equipment checks.
• Follow QA guidelines to ensure food safety and top-quality products.
• Comply with plant safety, security, and incident reporting policies.
• Train new team members when requested.
• Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment.

What We’re Looking For
• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing or food processing.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting experience (required).
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems (required).
• Knowledge of 480V 3-phase electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, air compressors, and welding.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
• Comfort with shop tools, equipment disassembly, repair, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to learn new equipment and suggest improvements.
• Strong communication skills and a team-player mindset.
• Commitment to safety, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs.

Physical Requirements
• Work in a temperature-controlled production environment with exposure to noise, cold, heat, fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
• Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing, squatting, or crawling.
• Move safely in confined spaces.
• Repetitive use of fine motor skills with small parts and tools.
• Wear required PPE, including safety glasses and gloves.
• Perform visual inspections and respond to team communication.
